A few years ago, MDI, Inc. launched its "Business Acumen Index." It's a ten question
survey on business acumen attitudes of employees. It's a very interesting to learn what employees think about business
in general and your business in particular. It takes just a few minutes to complete. Respondents are asked to
simply answer what they think about the various aspects of business acumen. The results may surprise you.

If you complete the survey, please let me know and I can send you the results. We an also discuss here what the
implications are for employees' answers.

Recently, a needed me to facilitate a simulation that is ordinarily a two-day commitment in less
than a day and a half. This is not unusual, actually. Over the years, clients have regularly asked "Can you
do it in less time?"
This client was different, in that they didn't ask! The client
simply sent us the schedule and we discovered at the last minute we didn't have the time we initially expected.
You
know what? We had a great program. With some thought and some honest (and ruthless) editing, I was able to introduce
the program in less than two hours (usually 4 hours) and complete a robust experience in a LOT less time. By focusing
on the essential elements, using the simulation itself to introduce key rules and procedures, and positioning the experience
as a realistic "learn by doing" experience, we were able to get the focus off of me as the presenter and back on
the participants as learners.
So, please let me know if you'd like to explore this idea further. Sure, our programs
have suggested time commitments. However, if your situation limits the time, let's talk about it. I'm sure we
can work out a solution to fit your constraints. Email Dan Topf to talk more.
Hello everyone. Thank you for taking the time to visit our MDI, Inc. blog. From time to time, we'll publish
thoughts and other observations from the field of business learning. We also hope that you'll comment on our postings
as well.
